A presentation at Yarmouth town hall yesterday shed light on population and household income in the town.
As budget preparations begin, CAO Jeff Gushue reviewed some economic indicators at a Committee of the Whole meeting.

One graph found that Yarmouth is behind in average provincial population in working ages, and above average for seniors.
Also, the average median household income is just over $34,500, around $12,000 less than the average town in Nova Scotia.
Mayor Pam Mood knows that out-migration is a factor.
“We know that some of those age group are gone west to work and we’re just hoping to draw them back.”

As for the budget, Mood says numbers are always tight, but staff are working hard to balance it.
