The MLA for Argyle-Barrington wonders if the government really knows how many people are in need of a family doctor.
Chris d’Entremont the PC health critic says they have been asking for the number of Nova Scotians on the wait list.
On November 1 of last year the province launched a campaign that allowing a new wait list option for people to call 811.
Those who had placed their name on a local wait list through Nova Scotia Health Authority before November 1 were to be automatically moved over to the new list.
d’Entremont says despite a freedom of information request, they still have not been provided the numbers.
“In the last session we were talking about doctor shortages across the province. We asked the question…how many people have called in ?… how many are being sucessful ? And we get a note back from the health authority that “we don’t have that information.”
So someone here is not telling us the truth. Either it’s the government that said they were trying to do something or the health authority that really doesn’t have any information.”
He says the premier also broke his election promise of a doctor for every Nova Scotian.
