Shelburne RCMP say the woman was the sole occupant of the all-terrain vehicle and was riding with a small group around 10:30 when she lost control.
The woman was thrown from the vehicle on Davis Road in Welshtown.
She was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The RCMP originally issued a media release stating that the woman died.
However, they issued a correction a short time later saying she was still alive.
The police apologize for their mistake and that it was misinformation.
Police say the investigation into the cause of the crash is continuing.
