The federal government will continue to be a strong partner in the ferry service between Yarmouth and Portland.
West Nova MP Colin Fraser says there are a number of ways they can do that.
Fraser says a new terminal is one.
“I’ve looked at the plans for a new ferry terminal. There’s no timeline in place yet but obviously our government is committed to infrastructure investments.”
Fraser says the federal government is not looking at a subsidy at this time.
“Obviously the province has stepped up and done a great job in ensuring that the investment is being made. You know it cost a lot of money to get this thing up and running and we’re still paying for that. But we’ve seen increased room bookings and record tourism in Nova Scotia.”
He says the long term looks good for this ferry service and the federal government will be a strong partner.
