There are three categories, individual, family and youth.
Program Coordinator for the Department of Community Services Andrea Redmond says each municipality will then select one person to receive provincial recognition.
“They are called the Volunteer Representative Awards, but larger municipalities like Halifax and Cape Breton can select more than one.”
The deadline for submissions is February 24th.
Redmond says its important to get your nominations in early.
“I’d say by early to mid February, and hopefully you’ll be catching them in time to include your recommendation.”
It’s a lead-up to National Volunteer Week from April 23rd-29th.
During that week, most municipalities hold volunteer awards of their own.
