The Western Regional Enterprise Network may be welcoming another municipality into the fold.
The Municipality of Barrington is looking to join municipal units in Yarmouth, Digby and part of Shelburne County on the WREN.
Each municipality has to accept Barrington, and Yarmouth town council did so last night at their monthly meeting.
Mayor Pam Mood says it will be wonderful to have another voice at the table.
“Certainly Barrington has a tremendous amount to add to the table when it comes to economics…their fishery. We do so many of the same things at this end of the province and we do them well, to be able to pull together partners like that, it just allows us to do so much more.”
Barrington Warden Eddie Nickerson says being part of the WREN will give the municipality a more regional approach.
“It allows us to work more closely with the other municipal units in Sou’ West Nova and do some projects in this end of the province that can benefit a great number of people.”
The WREN is a partnership between the province and municipalities to guide regional economic development and support growth.
