The Yarmouth Junior A Mariners came close to completing a remarkable comeback.
Trailing 5-1 in the second period tonight against the Pictou County Weeks Crushers in New Glasgow, the Mariners fought back to make it 5-4 halfway through the third.
The teams traded goals late in the period, making it a 6-5 final for the Crushers, and a three point lead over the Mariners for first in the Eastlink South Division.
Max Robitaille scored his first as a Mariner in his first game, Ben Chipman, Andrew Martell, Ty Power and Lawrence Lyver also scored for Yarmouth.
Leif Hertz took the loss in net making 27 saves.
The Mariners return home tomorrow night to face Amherst and play Truro Saturday night at home.
