Before its inaugural sailing season last year, an extensive amount of training was needed to get the Yarmouth to Portland vessel in and out of port smoothly.
That’s why the season began on June 15th.
Mark MacDonald says they won’t have as much training to go through this year.
“A lot of people, thankfully, want to return. The ship has been here before. It’s not as complex a training regiment.”
MacDonald says this means Yarmouth residents shouldn’t have to worry about hearing the ship’s loud foghorn in the middle of the night.
Currently, the vessel is tied up in the U-S..
“She’s at the shipyard in Charleston, South Carolina where our large work program was undertaken last spring. Through the winter and closer to the spring there are various pieces of work we’ll be undertaking to get her ready for 2017.”
MacDonald says it is expected back in Yarmouth around the middle of May.
