There’s a new program for those wanting to finish their high school education in Clark’s Harbour.
The pilot project is through NSCC Shelburne in conjunction with the Town of Clark’s Harbour.
NSCC Academic Chair and Shelburne campus Site Manager Karla Wilms says they wanted to try this out in a community that’s a little farther away from campus.
“We wanted to go where the learners are and sometimes they are geographically some distance away from campus. With the blend
of having a faculty member in the area and also using some technology, we had an opportunity to present to the Town of Clark’s Harbour
and they received us warmly in terms of offering us some space. We bring the faculty member, the technology and the curriculum, to see if
we can get some interest from people that would be seeking to get their grade 12 and reach out to them.”
If all goes well, Wilms says the program should start by early February and run until May, two nights a week.
Wilms says if the program is successful in Clark’s Harbour, she hopes to branch out to other communities.
