The Scotiabank Western Riptide Female Bantam A hockey team won gold at the DQ Tournament in New Brunswick over the weekend. They defeated Metro East Inferno Black 3-0 for the championship.

The team is made up of female hockey players from across Western Nova Scotia.

The Scotiabank Western Riptide Atom A female hockey team played three games in the DQ Tournament.
They won the first game played Friday in Shediac vs Metro West Force Black. 4-0. Renee Melanson had a hat-trick and Marissa Fevens scored the other goal, with an assist to Brooke d’Eon. Chloe Surette and Sophie Thimot shared the net, with Surette picking up player of the game.
On Saturday they played two games.
First game was in Shediac and they lost 4-2 vs the Miramichi Panthers. Goals were scored by Renée Melanson and Brooke d’Eon. Assists went to Issabelle D’Entremont, Jorgia Malone, Marissa Fevens and Ashlyn D’Entremont. Chloe Surette and Sophie Thimot both shared the net. Player of the game was given to Renée Olsen.
Second game was in Cap Pelé vs West Kent Blizzards and they lost 3-1.
The goal was scored by Renée Melanson. The assist went to Issabelle D’Entremont. Chloe Surette and Sophie Thimot both shared the net. Player of the game was given to Isabel Doucette.
