3rd Star – Leif Hertz— Kevin Northup (@KevinNorthup) January 7, 2017
Cameron MacLeod had a hat-trick for the Bearcats and Jason Rioux got the shutout.
Mariners goalie Leif Hertz took the loss in goal and despite giving up six goals, looked strong at times.
After the game, Mariners Head Coach Laurie Barron wasn’t shy about his thoughts.
“I know there are a lot of guys in there that have a lot of pride, and we’ll bounce back. But that wasn’t what we were looking for. We’re embarrassed, because we have the best fans in the league and they deserve better than that.”
It was the Yarmouth debut for forward Jalen Gillard and defenseman Alex Mann, both joining the team for the stretch run.
Former Lumberjacks forward Max Robitaille did not play for the Mariners due to suspension.
Barron says his team was outworked.
“Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom, and we’ve got some new faces and it will take a little bit of time. But there’s no excuse for that. “
The Mariners are scheduled to take on the Campbellton Tigers tomorrow at 7:30 at Mariners Centre.
