Nova Scotia RCMP have confirmed a triple murder suicide at a home in Upper Big Tracadie, Nova Scotia.
Autopsies showed that 31 year old Shanna Desmond, 52 year old Brenda Desmond and 10 year old Aaliyah Desmond all died of gunshot wounds.
Police confirmed that 33 year old Lionel Desmond’s gunshot wounds were self-inflicted, indicating a triple homicide and suicide.
Their bodies were found by two family members on Tuesday night.
The Canadian Armed Forces confirmed Lionel Desmond was an Afghanistan veteran, and relatives and friends on social media had said he’d been suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
RCMP say their investigation is continuing.
