The Spears and MacLeod Pharmasave Peewee AA Mariners played in the Mike Schmitt Memorial Tournament in Truro on December 27 and 28.
The first game in round robin play saw Yarmouth defeat West Hants 7-0 with 2 goals from Spencer Surette, Cameron Kerr and Seamus d’Entremont. Orren Hatfield had 1 goal.
The second game was 4-4 tie between Yarmouth and Acadia. Goals were by Cameron Kerr, Spencer Surette, Orren Hatfield, and Owen Fitzgerald.
The final game in round robin play was a 7-4 win for Yarmouth vs Pictou. Cameron Kerr had 3 goals, and Owen Fitzgerald, Jaden Kerr, Orren Hatfield and Luke MacLeay had 1 goal each.
The Mariners played Antigonish in the semi-final game, where they had a 5-2 win. Spencer Surette, Orren Hatfield, and Owen Fitzgerald had 1 goal each, and Cameron Kerr had 2 goals.
The championship game saw Yarmouth facing Acadia. Yarmouth won the game, and finished first in the tournament, with an edge-of-your-seat, nail-biting finish. The final score was 4-3 for Yarmouth with 3 goals from Cameron Kerr and 1 goal from Orren Hatfield.
