A 16 year high school student from Toronto is Acadia Broadcasting Limited’s Athlete of the year.
Swimmer Penny Oleksiak won four medals at the Rio Summer Olympics including a gold in the 100 meter freestyle.
Oleksiak pulled in 44 percent of the vote in our year-end survey, while Sidney Crosby came in at 34 percent and Andre De Grasse 14 percent.
Oleksiak also won the Lou Marsh Award as Canada’s top athlete.
