As we shop and bake and prepare for time with loved ones this Christmas, it’s misery in Syria where 1000 children died or were hurt trying to get to school this year.
Unicef Canada has 200 people working in Syria and in the neighbouring countries providing help.
David Morley is the organization’s president and he says they had a presence in the country long before the war started.
He says they have 200 people working inside Syria on the frontlines in places like Aleppo, Homs and Madaya which are the places where people are suffering so much.
Morley says they are providing safe water for 20 million people and learning supplies to parents so their children can keep up their studies.

We asked Unicef Canada President David Morley if the world is doing enough for Syria and he paused before saying 20 per cent of the population in Jordan are Syrian and one quarter of the children attending school in Lebanon are Syrian.
“It’s really hard to do enough for all those people and some people may say oh well, it’s not our problem but I think the world is interconnected that we share the concerns and the problems in a moral sense from people all around the world,” he says.
