The province is out with a list of the most popular baby names of 2016.
According to Nova Scotia’s Registry of Vital Statistics, at least 48 girls were given the name Olivia and 62 boys were named William.

Rounding out the top five for girls names were Abigail, Ava, Emma and Charlotte, while for boys the rest of the top five was Benjamin, Oliver, Noah and Liam.
There were over 7,300 registered births in Nova Scotia up to December 19th.
The province began formally registering births on Aug. 1, 1864.
The most popular girls’ name that year was Mary, and John was the most popular name for boys.
