The Barrington River Bridge is now open to the public.
It was installed earlier this month at Kiack Brook to help connect 40 kilometres of trail.
The Woodland Multi-Use Trail Association and the Shelburne ATV Club wanted to have the bridge ready for public use by Christmas, and they accomplished that with a work party yesterday.
Last week, Barrington Warden Eddie Nickerson said the bridge will enhance the commercial district of Barrington Passage.
He says the municipality is thankful for the volunteers that look after the trail.
“It makes things a lot easier when you have volunteers step up to the plate and get involved. It’s something that we enjoy seeing and it really builds your community.”
The municipality says the area is considered a long linear park which is a public place and appropriate behaviour is expected, similar to other parks, ball fields and other public spaces.
Nickerson says more work is planned to extend the trail next year.
