The Yarmouth Boys and Girls Club is being forced to move its day care operations.
The building on Bond Street was extensively damaged by a broken pipe.
The Town Of Yarmouth is permitting the club to operate its day care from the former South Centennial Elementary School.
Executive Director Jody Pothier says the water damage is severe.
“We were very surprised to see the damage but it has affected three of our floors from top to bottom. Playrooms, toys, everything. It’s more than we
could have imagined.
Pothier says it’s the unknowns that are worrisome.
“We don’t know what lies beneath the walls. We’ve been i n service, it will be 50 years in August, so it’s a very old building. Right now it looks like it would have to be torn apart and we don’t know what we would find after,
Pothier says the 24 staff have been amazing as they work to provide services back to the families as soon as possible.
