The Warden of the Municipality of Yarmouth says they are satisfied that the Town of Yarmouth has cleaned up
a piece of land in Lake George to the best of its ability.
The town dumped tonnes of class B compost on the site but it was not properly screened and was full of plastics and metals.
A letter from Mayor Pam Mood was read at the municipality’s council meeting last night explaining what the town had done so
far and that soil and water tests would continue until spring.
Warden Leland Anthony says he knows the residents who have been affected will remain vigilant.
“There will ,also be concerns from the residents because of the way it happened. we’ll still be a voice for the residents out there.
if they still have some major concerns, they can address them either directly to the town and/or through us and we’ll carry their concerns to the town for them .”
He says the town has done it’s due diligence.
” I believe from my conversations with the town, from the letters we’ve had, from the meetings I’ve been at, that the town did step up, did a proper job, to the best of their ability under the direction of their consultants and the Department of Environment, they’ve fulfilled what was requested of them”
