A storm surge created higher than normal water levels in Southwestern Nova Scotia today.
During high tide around noon, several areas like Overton, Pinkney’s Point, Wedgeport and more reported flooding.

The water has receded as low tide approaches.
The Department of Transportation’s Don Houston says there was no major damage.
“We didn’t see any real damage. A little bit of debris on the road, but nothing we can’t handle once we start plowing again.”
Meanwhile snow squall and wind warnings remain in effect for Yarmouth and Digby counties.
The temperature is expected to drop into the minus 15 range, with the wind chill feeling like minus 30.

Houston advises motorists to take their time on the roads.
“There’s a lot more snow Clare/Digby way. Give yourself a lot of room between yourself and the vehicle in front of you, whiteouts can happen in a hurry.”
He says crews are out putting another layer of salt down before the temperature gets too cold.
