The water situation in the Municipality of Argyle has improved, thanks to all the recent precipitation.
It was a long, dry spring and fall for most of Western Nova Scotia suffering from a record-breaking drought.
But despite the rain and snow, Janine Muise, EMO co-ordinator for Argyle, says they’re still getting calls.
“As far as I know there are still a few people whose wells have not come up considerably. I’ve talked to a couple of families in the last week and they still have inches of water in their wells. I don’t know if yesterday the rain and the snow made any kind of difference. Most people have water in their wells but there still a few that the water is not coming up for whatever reason”
Muise says they do what they can to help.
“We’re limited as to what we can do for these people. I know the municipality is looking at passing a by-law where people can borrow money through the municipality and recoup it through taxes. I’m not sure if that’s going to go through but that’s what they’re working at this moment.”
They are still providing drinking water to those who need it.
