Leading 3-1 after two periods, the Mariners were in a good position for their third straight win.
But the Western Capitals would not go away, as Kallum Muirhead would score the winner with about three minutes left to stun the crowd at Mariners Centre.
Yarmouth were out shot heavily in the first period, but came out of it tied at one off a goal by Matt Warner.
Ryan Daley and Mateo Short would score powerplay goals in the third period, but the Mariners couldn’t hold their lead.
Leif Hertz took the loss in goal.
Head Coach and General Manager Laurie Barron says his team didn’t display a good enough effort.
“You can blame it on having nine forward and five defenseman, but bottom line, we found a way to lose instead of finding a way to win. That’s something that hasn’t happened to us often this year. This one stings a little and I hope we learn a lesson by it.
After the game, Barron announced that 20 year old forward Lawrence Lyver has been acquired from the South Shore Lumberjacks for defenseman Jonathan Mason and future considerations.

Barron says Lyver brings experience to the team.
“He is a hard-nosed kid. Loved him to death when I was coaching South Shore last year. He’s a great forward that takes no backwards steps. He shows up and plays hard everyday. He’s a 20 year old that knows how to play hard and knows how to prepare in this league.”
Yarmouth is back in action tomorrow at 2 in Berwick against the Valley Wildcats.
