Remembrance Day is a little closer to being a federal legal holiday.
That would give it the same status as Canada Day and Victoria Day in federal legislation.
Private Members Bill C-311 unanimously passed second hour of debate yesterday on a voice vote.
West Nova MP Colin Fraser brought the bill forward earlier this year.

Fraser says the committee will pick it up again in January.
“They will probably have a couple of meetings on the bill. We’ll invite witnesses from various groups relating to veterans, history and heritage to come and testify and give their thoughts on the bill and make any amendments they feel are improvements to the bill.”
If the bill passes through the committee, then it will go to third reading.
Fraser says it’s important to honour our veterans.
“This will make it absolutely clear in federal legislation that it is just as important as Canada Day, if not more important in my view.”
Fraser says it would still up to each province and territory to determine how they mark Remembrance Day.
