This is a busy time of year for most people.
For many people safe driving practices can take a back seat.
RCMP Cpl. Jennifer Clarke says they are using National Safe Driving Week to remind motorists that bad habits can cost lives.
“Speeding and aggressive driving, distracted driving and driving while impaired by drugs or alcohol are all causes of serious or fatal accidents that are totally preventable.”
Saturday also marks National Impaired Driving Enforcement Day.
Cpl. Clarke says members will be on the roads to both enforce and educate.
“We will be conducting check points. Our message is simple. Impaired driving will not be tolerated. “
Also, the Canada Safety Council is reminding drivers to be prepared for winter driving by making sure you have winter tires, your windshield wipers are in good working order and you have a snow brush and emergency kit.
