An online post calling on the McNeil government to fix the school system has gone viral.
Kristopher Snarby is a former teacher who wrote an open letter to the Premier outlining ten ways to fix problems in the classroom that wouldn’t cost anything.
The post has been shared over 1100 times on Facebook and been read by over 70,000 people.
Snarby says he quit two years ago when he realized he wasn’t able to spend the time teaching his students.
He wrote the essay to let the public know what teachers are dealing with.
“I go there and I see what’s happening and I just feel so bad for the teachers. They’re all doing their absolute best. They’re all exhausted.”
Snarby says data entry and other demands placed on teachers are preventing them from teaching effectively.
“We’ve tried to make changes and we keep getting these policies [coming] down on us and they’re not working. Unless we speak up and take a stand, nothing’s going to change.”
He says usually teacher fatigue sets in at the end of the school year.
This year, he is seeing it in October.
