New traffic lights are coming for a Yarmouth intersection.
For months, the Starrs Road/Brunswick Street corner has been a four way stop.
Yarmouth Town Council awarded a tender for $188,843 yesterday to Black and MacDonald Ltd. to install new lights.
Mayor Pam Mood explains how the lights will be set up. .
“They will always be green unless somebody is crossing through Brunswick Street. It’s the same thing as we’ve done at Jody Shelley Drive where it’s always green unless someone is coming through Jody Shelley Drive, and the same thing as the one in front of Sobeys.”
Mood says the parts are being ordered, and the timeline is between six to eight weeks for work to begin.
Even though she prefers a four-way stop system, Mood says a traffic study has been done to show that lights need to be installed.
