With flurries and hail starting to fall, now is the time to think about winter driving.
The Nova Scotia RCMP are out with a list of safety tips.
They include preparing your vehicle for the road, driving patiently and assisting those in need if possible.
RCMP Media Relations Corporal Dal Hutchinson says planning ahead is very important, including checking road and weather conditions.
He says it’s very important to clear all the snow off your vehicle.
“Your headlights, your taillights. The roof of your vehicle should be cleared off also. We’ve all seen that person driving down the road covered in snow.
You’re, not only a a risk to yourself but you’re a risk to everyone else on the highway.”
Cpl. Hutchinson advises turning on your headlights at all times and slowing down for conditions.
Hutchinson says good winter driving takes patience.
