Northern Ontario will represent Canada at the World Mixed Curling Championship in Switzerland next year.
Trevor Bonot’s Thunder Bay squad was able to win gold at the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship in Yarmouth this afternoon with a 5-2 win over Manitoba.
Bonot says they are proud to win for their hometown.
“Everyone in Thunder Bay, where we’re from. I hope everyone is proud of us and I’m happy our families could be here to watch.”
Bonot’s four point curl in the fifth end was the turning point.

Ontario took bronze with a 6-4 win over Saskatchewan in nine ends.
Ontario Skip Wayne Tuck says gold is always the goal.
“Kinda disappointing, but we bounced back this game and played well. We now have two bronze and one silver, so we have to keep trying. We’re not getting any younger, but we’re going to keep trying.”
It’s the first Canadian Mixed Curling title for Northern Ontario since 1997.
