Nova Scotia’s Minister of Health is being pressed to establish a radiation therapy program in Yarmouth.
The matter came up in the House of Assembly Wednesday.
Argyle-Barrington MLA Chris d’Entremont says he’s been pressing Leo Glavine for solid costs and timelines for a while.
“I’ve heard a lot over the years of travelling back and forth to Halifax to receive radiation therapy and some specialty services for cancer treatments. It would be nice at some point if those services were available in Yarmouth.”
Glavine replied in the House that it’s is an area that continues to be explored.
He said he and Yarmouth MLA Zach Churchill have had several discussions with radiologists and nuclear physicists in Halifax.
Glavine said they were the ones who were promoting the concept of radiation for Yarmouth Regional Hospital.
