The architects are now in the construction drawing phase for the new elementary school in Yarmouth.
It is being built on the site of the former Junior High School at the corner of Parade and Brunswick streets.
The structure has been demolished but the gymnasium remains and will be incorporated into the new facility.
Steven Stoddart, director of operations for the Tri County Regional School Board says the last school steering committee
meeting was held on September 21.
“The architects met with all the staff of Yarmouth Central School to go over the design floor plan for any particulars they
would like to see for their specialties.”
He says it will be quite a different design.
“You don’t see the straight hallways with the square classrooms. It’s going to be quite the new school, a real different design
from what we’re normally looking at.”
Stoddart says it’s hoped the project will go to tender in January with construction to begin next spring and occupancy
in September of 2018.
