‘Pink in the Rink’ was a success for the Yarmouth Junior A Mariners.
The team wore custom pink jerseys for the month of October, and now the jerseys have been auctioned off to fans.
Over $7,300 was raised for the Dr. Edwin Janke Cancer Centre in the Yarmouth Regional Hospital.
Mariners Head Coach and General Manager Laurie Barron says it’s great to see so many people bidding.
“We’re just happy to be able to be involved, and raise some money for the local hospital so the funds stay right here in Yarmouth.”
A jersey with the number 5 was the leading item at $500, followed by Matt Barron’s number 44 at $450.
A gift basket was also sold at the arena, with ticket sales exceeding $640.
The Mariners are back on home ice this weekend, Saturday against Miramichi and Sunday versus Amherst. Both games start at 7:30pm.
Before that, the Mariners hit the road Thursday night to face the Pictou County Weeks Crushers.
