A good start for Yarmouth teams at the annual Chicks With Sticks tournament at Mariners Centre today.
This afternoon, the Western Riptide White Atom team defeated Metro West Force Orange 7-0.
Marissa Fevens, Isabelle d’Entremont and Renee Melanson each scored twice, and Renee Olsen had the other goal. Assists went to Isabelle d’Entremont and Kali Goreham.
They beat Metro West Force Red 5-1 in the morning to open the tournament. Renee Melanson scored twice and had an assist. Renee Olsen had a goal and an assist, Kali Goreham and Allie Dugas also scored. Assists went to Marissa Fevens, Issabelle d’Entremont and Lilly Mullen.
Another local team, Peewee Western Riptide White lost 5-2 to Western Riptide Green. Emilie Crosby had a goal and an assist, and Ocean Sears also scored, with Grace Mullen picking up an assist for Team White.
In their second game, Peewee team white beat Metro West Force Orange 10-2.
Grace Mullen and Emilie Crosby scored twice, Havana Perry, Ava Mullen, Courtney Fitzgerald, Ocean Sears, Karlie MacDonald, and Madison Cushing also scored. They play again tomorrow morning at 9:45.
The Yarmouth Midget Mariners will play the only other team in their division twice tomorrow, Metro West Force Orange at 11am and 4:30pm.
Action continues tomorrow and Sunday in four divisions. 16 teams are in Yarmouth for the largest female minor hockey tournament in the province.
