The Yarmouth Wade’s Wire Traps/Five Star Roofing Bantam AA Mariners played their first two games of the regular season over the weekend.
On Saturday, the Mariners defeated the Cumberland Bantam AA Blues 2-1 in Amherst.
Hayden Young scored twice and Zach D’Arcy and Brennan Smith had assists. Charlie Banks was in net, stopping 13 shots.
Yesterday, the Mariners and Truro Bearcats played to a 3-3 tie in Truro.
Andre d’Entremont scored twice, Yannick Cottreau had the other with an assist.
Hayden Young and Josh Greene also picked up assists, and Liam Campbell faced 15 shots.
Meanwhile, the Spears and MacLeod PeeWee AA Mariners won both home games vs Truro this weekend.
The score of the first game was 6-4, with goals from Luke MacLeay, Connor Prouty, Spencer Surette, Jesse Amiro, Seamus d’Entremont and Orren Hatfied.
Game 2 result was 8-5 for Yarmouth, with 2 goals from Jaden Kerr and Spencer Surette and 1 goal each from Orren Hatfield, Dalton Sears, Jesse Amiro and Cameron Kerr. Colby Saulnier was in net for both games.
The Yarmouth Chris Scott Construction Atom AA Mariners were on the road over the weekend in Pictou where they lost to Pictou Red 6-4.
Jared Pitman and Sam Hope had two goals each.
In the second game, Yarmouth lost to Pictou White 3-2. Sam Hope scored both goals.
Third game, Yarmouth defeated Brookfield 7-0. Sam Hope scored twice, other goals were scored by Russell Pinksen, Connor Pothier, Cameron Barnes, Drew Muise and Brady Saulnier. Blake Fish got a shutout in net.
The Yarmouth Captains Choice Trucking Bantam B Mariners tied Acadia Bantam B 4-4 in exhibition play at Mariners Centre Vs Acadia Bantam B in an Exhibition game at the Mariners Centre.
Ashton Doucette had two goals, Zack Richardson and Drew d’Entremont also scored. Connor Boudreau, Austin Surette, Luke d’Eon and Tristan d’Entremont all had assists.
The Western Scotiabank Riptides White Female Peewee A team lost twice on Saturday at home, 3-0 and 502.
In the second game, goals were scored by Grace Mullen and Karli MacDonald assisted by Madison Cushing.
Also the Clare-Digby Minor Hockey Association held its annual Fall Face-Off tournament in Clare and Digby over the weekend.
The Bantam A Clare-Digby team won the gold medal in their division.
