The federal government will fund a number of community projects in the Municipality of Argyle.
$90,700 was announced last week by West Nova MP Colin Fraser for the Conseil Acadien de Par-en-Bas.
The projects will coincide with Canada’s 150th anniversary and the 250th anniversary of the return of Acadians to the area.
An Acadian Odyssey Monument will be constructed at the museum in West Pubnico and concerts showcasing local artists will be held, along with visual art exhibits featuring the work of Acadian students, and a theatrical production of ‘Evangeline, A Musical Comedy’ in Tusket.
CAPEB Executive Director Clyde Deviller says it’s great to get youth involved in local history.
“The greatest part of the project is that we are doing something to help our youth better understand our Acadian culture, and the history of Canada moving forward.”
The projects will be complete in time for celebrations next year.
