The Yarmouth Junior A Mariners had a perfect MHL Showcase in Truro.
Yarmouth opened things up with a 3-0 shutout of Amherst, and then came back to beat the South Shore Lumberjacks 6-2 this afternoon.
With the wins, the Mariners improved to 10-0 on the season.
In today’s game at Colchester Legion Stadium, Yarmouth trailed 2-1 heading into the third period, as South Shore had goals from West Pubnico’s Tristan d’Entremont and former Mariner Alex Rawding. Noah McMullin had the Mariner goal.
Aaron Maillet scored two big goals in the third and Brodie Butt, Matt Warner and Andrew Martell added goals in the final frame.
Mariners goalie Leif Hertz made 45 saves and was named second star behind Maillet.
South Shore went 1-1 at the showcase, defeating the Truro Bearcats 4-3 in a shootout last night.
Derek Goguen was in net for both games for the Jacks.
The Mariners play twice at home this weekend, first against the Valley Wildcats on Friday and then versus Woodstock Saturday.
