Voting by phone or internet has taken off.
The Municipality of Lunenburg reports 694 people or 3.4% of eligible voters used e-voting in the first 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the Town of Shelburne indicates 11.6% have voted electronically since Monday.
CAO Dylan Heide says it’s encouraging.
“The primary intention is for accessibility and to make it an easier process for residents. But, the hope for a secondary benefit would be some increased turnout, especially among groups who might otherwise have trouble making it to polls on polling day.”
Chester is reporting 6.1% and Bridgewater is at 3.6% after the first day.
You can vote by telephone or internet in Bridgewater and Shelburne until 7 p.m. Saturday October 15.
E-voting ends in Chester at 7 p.m. Tuesday October 11 and 7 p.m. Thursday October 13 in the Municipality of Lunenburg.
