The MLA for Queens-Shelburne will have more responsibility on his plate during the upcoming fall session of the House of Assembly.
NDP Leader Gary Burrill has named Sterling Belliveau as the party’s leader in the house.
That’s due to Burrill not having a seat in the legislature.
Belliveau has served as an MLA since 2006 and held portfolios including Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture and Minister of Environment.
Lisa Roberts, the newly-elected MLA for Halifax-Needham, will enter her first session with a number of critic portfolios including Housing, Immigration, and Municipal Affairs.
Dartmouth South MLA Marian Mancini will move to the role of Caucus Whip in order to focus more on constituency work.
Burrill announced new roles and portfolios ahead of the fall session, which gets underway on October 13.
