The Western Regional Enterprise Network named a new chair this week.
Warner Comeau, a retired insurance broker in Yarmouth joined the WREN board when it was first formed two and a half years ago.
Comeau takes over as board chair from Allister Surette after serving as vice-chair.
The appointment was made at WREN’s second annual meeting in Yarmouth on Tuesday.
Comeau says the board will continue focusing on population growth in the area.
“We need more workforce in the area, we need to build on that. We also need to look at exporting our products and diversifying our industries.”
Six municipal units created the WREN in 2014 as a way to guide regional economic development and support business growth.
It’s a partnership between the province and municipalities and towns in Yarmouth and Digby counties.
