A 33-year-old woman was airlifted to hospital last night after injuring herself on a Yarmouth County trail.
Two people were walking the Chebogue Meadows Interpretive Trail off the Hardscratch Road yesterday when the woman hurt her ankle.
A 911 call was placed and EHS and the Yarmouth Fire Department responded.
The woman was two kilometres into the trail.
After carrying the woman a distance on a backboard through the difficult terrain a call was made to the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Halifax.
A Cormorant helicopter from 413 Squadron Greenwood was dispatached and the woman was hoisted into the chopper and airlifted to the Yarmouth Regional Hospital.
Her condition is not know but her injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.
Yarmouth Fire Chief John Verrall says the department was called to assist and were on scene until about 11pm.
