The Mayor of Yarmouth says the town’s water supply is durable.
Pam Mood says despite the dry conditions, the town wants to help its residents and neighbouring municipalities.
Mood says the reservoir at Lake George can handle an increase in consumption.
“If consumption increased by 20 per cent for a month, it would draw the lake down only two millimetres. We can absolutely support supplying water to our neighbouring municipalities. We don’t want anyone to worry about that.”
The town has water tokens, but encourages people to find alternatives to filling them at Lake George.
That includes the rear of the Mariners Centre building. There are also showers available at the facility.
Mood says those with dry wells that have relatives in town are encouraged to shower and do laundry at their relatives.
Many other municipal units in the area are providing water for their residents, including Argyle, Barrington and Shelburne.
Not much rain is in the forecast this week.
