An application has been submitted in hopes of accessing federal funds for capital upgrades to the Shelburne Arena.
The Shelburne County Arena Association, the Municipality of Shelburne and the Town of Shelburne together have submitted an
application to an ACOA infrastructure program.
In a media release the three applicants say if successful, new dasher boards and glass would be installed in the spring of 2017.
Other facility upgrades would also be done, but there were no specifics in the release.
Both the Town and Municipality of Shelburne have committed funds.
In the release Warden Roger Taylor says “the arena is an important community recreation facility.”
Shelburne Mayor Karen Mattatall says “the Town welcomes the opportunity to work with the Municipality to ensure infrastructure projects that are vital to the area can happen.”
