Residents living in the Municipality of Barrington are still struggling with a lack of water.
It’s been dry for months with the exception of a few very brief showers or sprinkles, not enough to affect the water table.
The municipality’s CAO Rob Frost says the situation remains tough.
“We still here of lots of people’s wells running dry. It gets worse every day”
Frost says the municipality is doing what it can to help residents.
Washing machines have been made available at Ground Search and Rescue from 5-9pm.
You are asked to call 902-637-1677 to check availability.
Water fill stations have been set up and the showers are being made available to the public at the arena.
Meanwhile, the Municipality of Argyle EMO office is providing assistance to affected residents.
Drinking water is being provided Monday, Wednesday and Fridays at the Wedgeport, Eel Brook, West Pubnico, Kemptville and Quinan fire halls at various times.
Showers are available at Ecole Belleville from 6am-7:30am and 6pm-7:30pm Monday to Friday, and Ecole Pubnico-Ouest from 5pm-7pm Monday to Thursday.
Argyle EMO advises residents to keep an eye on their neighbors, especially those living alone or most vulnerable.
They also urge citizens to notify the municipal office of their situation so they can identify if more resources are needed.
