A local track and field coach is hoping her video will receive enough votes to win a $10,000 contest.
Nicole Gushue submitted a minute-long video to Support4Sport Nova Scotia on the track and field facility at Ecole Secondaire de Par-en-Bas.
The video was selected as a top ten finalist, and voting is on until September 12.

Gushue says the money would be used for a number of things.
“It is a dirt track. The $10,000 won’t buy a synthetic surface, but what we would do is buy roll-out strips. You can use your spikes on that to practice, and it would mimic what a synthetic track would feel like under your feet.”
Synthetic surfaces are used at high level track meets.
The prize winnings would also be used for speed gates, and new programs for under 12 and over 35 athletes, as well as Special Olympics and Paratrack athletes.
The track has hosted district school athletic competitions over the last three years.
