Athletes in the Tri-County Area are getting ready for the weekend.
The Yarmouth Marathon takes place on Sunday, and applications from runners are still being accepted.
All proceeds from the event go to Yarmouth Hospital’s Kidney Dialysis Unit.
Organizer Bobby-Lou Reardon says it was important to help those close to home.
“First couple of years we raised money for Nova Scotia Kidney foundation, but the last three or four years, we’ve been raising money for the local unit,” she says.
“It means we help patients in the Tri-Counties, specifically in this area, and helps them with the cost.”
Runners also have the option of running a 5k, 10k, half-marathon, or new this year, a team relay.
Those who compete the full marathon can qualify for the Boston Marathon in April.
