Citizens of Barrington were asked to name a new park, and the results are in.
The park and boardwalk development in Barrington Passage near the Cape Sable Causeway will be named Island View Park.
The municipality turned to social media for possible names.
Warden of the Municipality of Barrington Eddie Nickerson says they received over 60 suggestions.
He says the winning name was the logical choice.
“It’s an island view, and it’s pretty straightforward,” he says.
“It was easy to choose that name on my behalf, I thought it suited the park very well.”
Park construction started two years ago, and was jointly funding with the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency.
Nickerson says an official opening will take place once park construction is complete.
