Russian athletes will not be banned from the Olympic Games in Rio following the country’s doping scandal.
The International Olympic Committee held an emergency meeting today and will instead leave the decision up to individual sport’s federations to decide whether Russian competitors are clean, and can take part in the games.
Canadian law professor Richard McLaren claimed Russia operated a state-sponsored doping program from 2011 to 2015.
The IOC released a statement saying “a fundamental rule of the Olympic Charter is to protect clean athletes and the integrity of sport.”
