
President & GM: Ray Zinck
Ray is a veteran broadcast journalist who started his career at CFDR in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia in 1971. Later that same year he moved to Yarmouth to join CJLS. Born in Lunenburg County and a graduate of Dalhousie University, Ray returned to CFDR as news editor and reader in 1972. In 1973 he moved to Nelson, British Columbia and worked at CKKC as News Director. In 1975 he returned to CJLS, where he has remained. Ray is a multi national journalism award winner having filed stories from home and abroad. His foreign reporting has taken him to Europe, including war zones, China, Africa, India, and Canada's high Arctic. In 1998, Ray published a book on the Second World War. Ray's present duties include general administration and news reporting.
Part-Time Announcer: Lesley Laybolt
Lesley is a native of Berwick, NS. She is a graduate of the two year radio and television arts program at Kings Tech in Kentville. Following her graduation in 1990, she worked briefly at Mid-Valley Cable in Aylesford before moving to Yarmouth to work at Viking Cable as Host and Reporter for "The Monitor" (a weekly local news program); and later for "Plugged-In" for which she was awarded on-air personality of the year in 1999. Following nine years as stay-at-home mother of two, Lesley has joined CJLS where she enjoys her Sunday morning shift as well, as filling-in wherever she is needed; including some front office work as well.

Assistant GM/Sales Manager: Dave Hall C.R.M.
Dave has been involved in sales most of his working life and for the past 20 years here at CJLS. As Sales Manager he directs all aspects of Local and National sales. He also provides administrative assistance to the General Manager. Dave loves radio, his work and the people he works with.

Afternoon Announcer/Sat. Nite Dance Party: Hartley Reede
Hartley has over 27 years in the DJ industry. Hartley has been appointed a judge for the Juno Awards in 2006 and 2008. He is owner and DJ of Hart Productions Professional Mobile DJ Services, and owned and operated The Mink Teen Club which was one of Canada's longest running teen clubs of its kind. Hart does the afternoon shift, remote broadcasts and commercial production. He is also the host and producer of the ever-popular Saturday Night Dance Party. Hart enjoys playing vinyl. It gives true meaning to the word “DISC-JOCKEY”.

Vice President: Chris Perry
Chris is a co-owner of CJLS Radio and is responsible for administration, programming and technical services. His career in broadcasting began in 1967 when he graduated from a Broadcast Training program in Ottawa, Ontario and began as a part-time announcer on CHOV Radio and Television in Pembroke, Ontario. In ’72 he brought his family to Yarmouth where he assumed the position of morning announcer and then program director. Later he moved into advertising sales. In 1998 he became a co-owner of CJLS with friends and business partners, Gerry Boudreau and Ray Zinck. Today, Chris continues to handle day-to-day management duties, commercial production and programming. Chris is the current President of the Atlantic Association of Broadcasters and serves as a member of the Canadian Association of Broadcasters Small Market Advisory Council.

Weekend Announcer: Pat Burill
Pat is the newest member of the CJLS announce staff. Pat does overnight and weekend shifts. He has worked as a DJ at special functions and has played in a band. Pat works as a carpenter for a local contractor. He loves music and really enjoys being on the air, talking about the music and things going on in and around the Tri-Counties.

News Director: Gary Nickerson
Gary is an award winning broadcast journalist. He has been with the CJLS News department for over 22 years, gathering, writing and reporting the information that’s important to residents of the Tri-Counties. Gary is a real team player and is always there when you need him, day or night.

Sports Director/Morning Announcer: Sean MacLellan
Sean is a “Military Brat” who spent most of his early years on and near bases (mostly Shearwater), although he went to high school in Sarnia, Ontario. After serving in the army, Sean went to Saint Mary’s University where he got his start in radio (and somehow managed to get a degrees). After getting a broadcasting certificate from ABI in Halifax, he got his first fulltime job in Halifax. He came back to CJLS in 1995 after spending time at stations in Kentville and working at a few lounges. When he’s not on the air, Sean can be found attending many events, plays and committee meetings, on stage performing or hosting Trivia contests. Production Manager and Mid-day Announcer: Jim Grattan
Jim is a family man with strong roots in the community. Computers, complex programs and electronic gadgets are his hobby. He is a long-time broadcaster, particularly strong in production and is responsible for a substantial amount of commercial recording at CJLS. Jim also works as a live-sound engineer at various venues in the region.

The Retro Show Host: Wade Cleveland
Wade first came to work at CJLS when he was 15 years old. With over 20 years experience in all facets of music as a radio personality, disc jockey, and singer. Wade love the OLDIES and invites you to join him every Tuesday and Friday evening from 7 to 10pm for the best music from the 50's, 60's and early 70's!

Part-Time Announcer: Dave Veinot
Dave has been around since the 70’s. He pulls weekend shifts and fills in for vacations. Always dependable, always steady. Loves the OLDIES!

Sentimental Journey Host: Loran Fevens
A native of Yarmouth, Loran began his broadcasting career at CJLS in January 1963. He spent the next 21 years in radio and television in Nova Scotia and PEI. In 1983 he joined the staff of Veterans Affairs Canada’s head office in Charlottetown as a public relations officer. Loran draws from his large personal collection of recordings to share with CJLS listeners on Sentimental Journey.

Receptionist/Accounts: Bev Muise
Bev has been on the job for over 2 decades, looking after the front desk duties, keeping track of where everyone is, keeping everything filed, and getting the billing out on time. If Bev didn’t worry about everything, who would?

Traffic Manager: Sharon King
A native of Dartmouth, NS Sharon’s career at CJLS started with writing commercials, but now as Traffic Manager she enters broadcast orders, schedules commercials, assigns commercials for production, prepares the next day’s log,and generally helps out where-ever and whenever she can.

Technical Engineer: Jim Harris
Jim has taken on the somewhat daunting task of keeping CJLS on the air 24 hours a day. With ‘cutting edge’ technology, he’s kept busy maintaining three transmitter sites as well as the studio equipment and all the computer gear.

Advertising Consultant: Carol Sherman
Carol has been a sales representative for longer than she cares to remember. Highly motivated, well versed in advertising and marketing, she loves to work with her clients to provide the most effective advertising possible.

Advertising Representative: Glenn Thorbahn
Glenn has worked in customer relations while employed in the airline industry and was an advertising writer at CJLS before assuming duties as an advertising sales representative. Glenn brings an eagerness and desire to ensure advertising works for his clients.
