The hockey season is back for teenagers across the South Shore and Yarmouth.
The UPS Store South Shore Mustangs open up training camp Friday at the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre.
Thirty-four players were invited to training camp including 12 defencemen, 19 forwards and 3 goaltenders.
Head Coach Paul Hunt says the camp will feature skill drills and small area games.
“Lots of high tempo, lots of execution-style drills and you know I’m really going to push the pace because that’s the way we’re going to try to play this year and we might as well start right off in training camp.”
An inter-squad game will be held Saturday at 4:30 followed by fitness testing on Sunday.
The club will have four exhibition games against Halifax and Valley before an early bird tournament begins September 8.
Hunt says cuts will be made through camp with the roster finalized after the tournament.
“There’s lots of quality kids and I’d really like to throw them in the fire and have them face a little adversity in a tournament style to see how they react before the coaching staff makes their final decisions.”
The hockey club is also looking for billets for the upcoming year.
