The Yarmouth Junior A Mariners followed up a home ice loss to Pictou County Friday night by splitting a weekend road trip.
The Mariners fought back, but couldn’t get close enough to the Summerside Western Capitals yesterday.
Yarmouth lost 7-5, as Summerside’s TJ Shea, the MHL’s leading scorer had five points.
The Mariners trailed 4-0 at one point, and then 6-2 in the third period before making it close.
Yarmouth goals were scored by Patrick Daley, Matt Barron, Brent Broaders, Derrick Johnson and Brendan Young.
Aaron Maillet and Matt Smith were out of the lineup due to injury, and backup Thompson Phinney took the loss in goal.
The Mariners won 3-2 in overtime in Amherst Saturday night.
Matt Barron scored 57 seconds into overtime.
Adam Pilotte and Noah McMullin had goals for Yarmouth in regulation, who led 2-1 in the third period.
The Ramblers Captain Jordan King tied the game in the third period.
Leif Hertz was solid in goal for the Mariners, making 40 saves.
The Mariners now sit just one point up on South Shore for first place in the division.
Yarmouth will visit the Crushers on Thursday night, and return home to face Edmundston on Saturday night.
