PEEWEE AA:
The Spears and MacLeod Pharmasave Peewee AA Mariners participated in the Mike Schmitt Memorial tournament in Truro this past weekend.
They were victorious against the eventual winners of the tournament, Pictou County, by a score of 4-2, but suffered losses of 2-1, and 2-0, to Antigonish, and the host Truro team.
In the net for the win was Braeden Hipson, and Charlie Whitty played very well between the pipes in the 2-1 loss.
Scoring were Luke MacLeay with two goals, Cameron Perry, Tyler Adams, and Blake Newell.
PEEWEE B:
The Timbermart Peewee B Mariners brought back the silver medal from the Jack Frost Tournament over the weekend.
On Friday, they faced the Sackville Flyers and played to a scoreless draw, then they lost 3-2 to Dartmouth with goals coming from AJ Deveau and Maddox d’Entremont.
The Mariners started the day Saturday with an 11-5 win over Queens County.
Ben Lyons had a hat-trick, Isaac Tunnicliff had two goals, Noel Babin had a pair as well, Alyre Richardson, Dominic Jacquard, AJ Deveau and Lucas Cottreau also scored.
Picking up assists in the blowout win were Landon Watkins, Nolan Cottreau, Dominic Jacquard, Lucas Cottreau, Isaac Richardson, Isaac Tunnicliff and Maddox d’Entremont.
Yarmouth goalie Brady Saulnier got his second shutout of the tournament in the next game, a 2-0 win over Sackville in the semi-final.
Goals were scored by Lucas Cottreau and AJ Deveau, with assists from Keaton Muise and Maddox d’Entremont.
In a tight championship game, the Mariners fell 5-4 to Dartmouth.
Noel Babin had two goals, and Maddox d’Entremont and Isaac Tunnicliff also scored, picking up assists were Alyre Richardson, Isaac Richardson with two and AJ Deveau.
